My dear Moyle,

I understand that you are temperarily acting as

Secretary for the German Hission Trustees.

Mr. J. H. Oldham (Secretary of the International

Missionary Caseil, and also of the Conference of British

Missionary Societies) has asked me to talk over with him

informally the question of the future of German missionary

work in the Colony. In my conversation with Mr. Oldham

I made it perfectly plain that I we not speaking in my

capacity as Chairman of the Board of Trustees as I in no

way wanted to samit other members of the Beard.

As you are probably aware a new factor has been

introduced by the amouncement by the Secretary of State

for the Celenies that he has decided to remove the present

discrimination against German missionary societies. In view

of this Mr. Oldham considered with me what action should be

taken in regard to Hongkong. That he decided was this:-

1. To obtain at ence from the German Societies an

authoritative statement with regard to their wishes,

1. To submit this statement to the Secretary of State. Beneurrently to send a copy of his letter to the Trustees to the Secretary of State (in which should be

embodied the authoritative statement with regard to

the wishes of the German societies).

With this action I heartily concur, It seems to

me that such action will clear up the position all round.

Council is anxious that the different Boards of Trustees
